2027 Edition

Art. 1.- PRESENTATION AND SCHEDULES

Agrupación Deportiva Marathon, Atresmedia and Sport Life Ibérica, together with the collaboration of the Madrid City Council, are organizing the 26th edition of the Movistar Madrid Half Marathon, to be held on April 4, 2027, starting at 9:15 a.m. on Paseo de Recoletos in the city of Madrid.

On the same course, the wheelchair athletes category (not handbikes, a category belonging to the Cycling Federation) will take place, starting at 9:10 a.m.

Note: The schedules and the start and finish locations may undergo changes due to organizational requirements.

Art. 2.- COURSE

The Movistar Madrid Half Marathon course measures 21.097 km and is officially certified by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. This race is held under the road racing regulations of World Athletics and the RFEA, and is included in the AIMS race calendar. The course will be controlled and supervised by the Municipal Police, mobility officers, and members of the Organization. Each kilometer will be marked.

Course through streets:

START: Paseo de Recoletos, in front of the National Library.

Paseo de la Castellana (central lane), Plaza de Emilio Castelar, Paseo de la Castellana (central lane), Glorieta de Gregorio Marañón, Paseo de la Castellana (central lane), exit to Service Road before Plaza de Castilla, Plaza de Castilla (keeping the central area of the square to the left, following traffic direction), Calle Bravo Murillo, Glorieta Cuatro Caminos (keeping the roundabout on the runners' right), Calle Raimundo Fernández Villaverde (including the overpass above Paseo de la Castellana), Calle de Joaquín Costa, Plaza de la República Argentina (keeping the central area to the left), Calle de Joaquín Costa (through Plaza de la República Argentina), Calle de Francisco Silvela, Glorieta López De Hoyos, Calle de Francisco Silvela and passage through the Avenida de América tunnel, Plaza de Manuel Becerra (through the tunnel), Calle del Doctor Esquerdo, Calle de O’Donnell, Calle de Alcalá, Plaza de la Independencia (running around Puerta de Alcalá on the right), Calle Serrano, Calle Juan Bravo, Paseo de Eduardo Dato (above Paseo de la Castellana), Glorieta de Rubén Darío, Calle Almagro, Glorieta de Alonso Martínez (keeping the roundabout on the right), Calle de Sagasta (against traffic direction), Glorieta de Bilbao (keeping the roundabout on the right), Calle Carranza (against traffic direction), Glorieta de Ruiz Giménez (keeping the roundabout on the right), Calle de San Bernardo, Calle de Gran Vía, Calle Montera, Puerta del Sol, Carrera de San Jerónimo, Plaza Cánovas del Castillo (running around Neptuno), Plaza de la Lealtad, Paseo del Prado, Plaza de Cibeles, Paseo de Recoletos (central lane)

Art. 3.- PARTICIPATION

All individuals born in 2009 or earlier may participate, provided they have turned 18 on race day, whether or not they are federated, and regardless of sex or nationality. They must be properly registered according to the rules outlined in this regulation.

Art. 4.- TIME LIMIT

The maximum time to complete the Movistar Madrid Half Marathon is 3 hours from the start.

Art. 5.- REGISTRATIONS

5.1.- DEADLINES AND FEES

Registrations may be completed until reaching a maximum of 30,000 participants and according to the following deadlines and fees:

  • First 2,000 bibs or until May 11, 2026: €35
  • 2,001–5,000 bibs or until June 30, 2026: €42
  • 5,001–10,000 bibs or until September 30, 2026: €49
  • 10,001–17,000 or until November 1, 2026: €59
  • 17,001–24,000 or until January 7, 2027: €69
  • 24,001–30,000 or until February 15, 2027: €80
  • 30,001 until sold out, at expo or waiting list: €95

The fees DO NOT INCLUDE the single-day license for the accident insurance of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, which costs €4 and will be mandatorily added to the registration. Runners holding an athletics federation license with coverage in the Madrid region will have this amount refunded when collecting their bib.

Registration includes payment platform management fees.

Registrations will close earlier than scheduled if the 30,000 available bibs are sold out.

Registrations completed before January 31, 2027 will have the name provided in the “Bib alias” field printed on the bib. Registrations from the waiting list or ownership changes cannot include a name on the bib.

Conditions of the cancellation guarantee and bib ownership change:

Once the registration is completed, and since the runner accepts these regulations, no refunds will be made under any circumstances except for those who have purchased this guarantee. For any contingency, the organization offers a cancellation and/or bib ownership change insurance, at a cost of €5 per registration, under the following terms:

  • Requests or changes before February 15, 2027: refund of 100% of the registration fee or changes with no extra cost.
  • Cancellation requests between March 16 and 14, 2027: refund of 50% of the registration fee or changes with no extra cost.
  • Requests submitted after March 14, 2027 will be considered final; no refunds or postponements.

The cancellation guarantee can only be purchased at the time of registration.

The amount of the cancellation guarantee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

However, bib ownership changes without this guarantee will be accepted until February 28 at a cost of €7, and at the Runner Expo for €10. Cancellation and ownership change requests (except those made at the Runner Expo) must be submitted via email to inscripciones@deporticket.com within the indicated deadlines.

Changing start corrals during bib collection (expo) will have a cost of €2.

5.2.- REGISTRATION METHODS

Registrations may be completed only through the official website www.movistarmediomaratonmadrid.es and the platforms authorized by the organization and published on the race’s official website.

5.3.- START BY WAVES

The runner must indicate their estimated finish time at the moment of registration, in order to access the start wave corresponding to their pace and thus ensure a smoother start for everyone.

To access start waves for times under 1h30 in this distance, it will be necessary to provide proof through an official result of the athlete in a certified race within the last two years that matches the wave time in which they wish to start. This information must be sent to info@mediomaratonmadrid.es before March 14, 2027. For registrations after that date, start wave selection is not guaranteed for any participant.

If the runner obtains a more recent official finish time, they may request a wave change at the Solutions desk during bib pick-up (Runner’s Expo). The wave change at the expo will have a cost of €2.

5.4.- CONSIDERATIONS

  • Registration is personal and non-transferable and implies full acceptance of these rules.
  • Once registration is completed, participation may not be transferred to another person, except for those who do so in accordance with Article 5 of these rules.
  • T-shirts will be delivered according to the size requested at the moment of registration. The Organization does not guarantee being able to deliver the requested T-shirt size to all participants, as production begins long before registration closes.
  • The registration fee will not be refunded under any circumstances, including injuries or work reasons, except for those who have purchased the cancellation and conditions-change insurance, and under its conditions.
  • Registrations that do not include all correct identification details will not be considered valid: ID (except for foreigners), first name, last name, date of birth, sex, and event.

Art. 6.- CATEGORIES

The following categories are established for both men and women:

  • Overall M / F: all age groups for each sex
  • Sub20: Born in 2008 and 2009
  • Sub23: Born from 2005 to 2007
  • Senior: Born from 2004 up to 35 years old
  • Master M-35 / F-35: From 35 to 39 years old
  • Master M-40 / F-40: From 40 to 44 years old
  • Master M-45 / F-45: From 45 to 49 years old
  • Master M-50 / F-50: From 50 to 54 years old
  • Master M-55 / F-55: From 55 to 59 years old
  • Master M-60 / F-60: From 60 to 64 years old
  • Master M-65 / F-65: From 65 to 69 years old
  • Master M-70 / F-70: From 70 to 74 years old
  • Master M-75 / F-75: From 75 to 79 years old
  • Master M-80 / F-80: From 80 to 85 years old
  • Master M-85 / F-85: Over 85 years old.
  • Athlete with wheelchair impairment M / F
  • Athlete with physical/intellectual impairment M / F

IMPORTANT: All indicated ages must be reached on the day of the race.

Art. 7.- BIB-CHIP AND OFFICIAL T-SHIRT PICK-UP

The bib-chip and official T-shirt pick-up will take place exclusively at the Runner’s Expo on April 1, 2, and 3. More info at https://www.mediomaratonmadrid.es/mm4-expo

To pick up the bib-chip, runners must present the receipt or a copy of the registration (paper or digital), or their ID card, passport, or another official document verifying their identity.

If unable to pick up the bib in person, the runner must provide authorization to the person who will pick it up, along with a photocopy of the registered runner’s ID at the time of pick-up.

The T-shirt will be delivered upon presentation of the bib-chip.

Important:

  • Runners may not request a different size from the one selected during registration.
  • The organization does not guarantee that all runners will receive the requested size at the time of registration, due to production taking place long before registration closes.
  • No bibs or T-shirts will be delivered on race day.
  • The bibs include a disposable chip, so they may not be folded, manipulated, or altered in any way, including their printed content.
  • Race time will only be recorded if the bib-chip is correctly placed on the front of the torso.

Art. 8.- MEDAL, TROPHIES AND CASH PRIZES

8.1.- TROPHIES AND MEDAL

All runners crossing the finish line will receive a medal as a memento of their participation in the race. The Organization will provide an engraving service for the medal with the runner’s finish time, which can be purchased when registering for €7 (at bib pick-up €8 and on race day €10).

Once any possible issues have been reviewed and classifications declared final, trophies will be awarded to the top three runners in all categories described in article 6 of the rules. Trophies not collected on the podium on race day will be delivered at the A.D. Marathon club office (calle Villaamil nº 65, Madrid, phone: 914026962) between April 12 and 30. If shipping is requested, the awardee will assume all costs. Failure to collect within these dates will be understood as a renunciation of the trophy and any other prize linked to that classification.

8.2.- CASH PRIZES

Cash prizes are established for the top finishers, and achieving the minimum required time in each category is necessary to access them.

8.3.- CONSIDERATIONS

  • If athletes do not achieve the required minimum time, the cash prize will be reduced by half.
  • The exclusive prizes for national athletes are cumulative with those of the overall general ranking.
  • The prizes for athletes from A.D. Marathon are cumulative with the rest of the prizes.
  • The prize for the half marathon record will be awarded only to the winner and will be cumulative with the rest of the prizes.
  • The presentation of a document proving identity will be essential in order to collect the prizes.
  • All cash prizes are subject to the withholdings set by Law and to the recognition of the performance by the RFEA.
  • The prizes for the general, national and course record classifications will not be paid until the results of the anti-doping control are published.
  • If a prize winner tests positive, they will be disqualified and will forfeit the prize, and the ranking will move up accordingly.

Art. 9.- RACE CONTROL AND OFFICIALS

Race control will be carried out by the officials appointed by the Madrid Athletics Federation and/or the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.

Time will be measured using an electronic system and chip provided by the Organizer, and no chips other than the one supplied will be valid. There will be timing checkpoints at the start, km 5, km 10, km 15 and the finish line. The Organizer will place additional secret checkpoints along the course.

The Referee Judge will be appointed by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation to resolve any technical incident, interpreting the event regulations. Any situation not covered by these regulations will be governed by World Athletics rules.

Art. 10.- PUBLICATION OF RESULTS AND CLAIMS

The provisional results will be published on the official website and app of the event, movistarmediomaratonmadrid.es, and will be the sole responsibility of the members of the RFEA Officials Committee.

Claims affecting prize-awarding positions in the ranking must be submitted in writing to the Referee Judge within a maximum of 30 minutes from the publication of the results, who will then review the claim.

Other claims must be sent in writing to the Organization’s email info@mediomaratonmadrid.es, addressed to the Referee Judge, before the Wednesday following the event.

The Organization will communicate the Referee Judge’s decisions within a maximum of 10 days, after which the results will be considered final. Therefore, all trophies and prizes will remain provisional until that moment.

Art. 11.- DISQUALIFICATIONS

Grounds for disqualification:

  • Providing false personal information during registration.
  • Not completing the full course.
  • Not passing through the timing checkpoints located along the route.
  • Not wearing the race bib clearly visible on the chest or altering or covering its advertising.
  • Running with a race bib and/or chip assigned to another runner.
  • Not following the instructions of the officials and/or Organization staff.
  • Having lent the race bib to be copied and used by another runner.
  • Refusing to undergo doping control.
  • Displaying unsportsmanlike behavior.
  • Any other behavior included in the relevant federative regulations.
  • Additionally, the event’s medical team and the referee judges are authorized to remove from the race any athlete showing signs of poor physical condition.

Art. 12. SERVICES OFFERED TO RUNNERS

AID STATIONS

The event will offer liquid aid stations at approximately kilometers 5, 10 and 15, in addition to liquid and solid refreshments at the finish line.

BAGGAGE CHECK

Runners may use a free baggage check service located in Plaza de Colón, where they can leave their belongings in a bag. The Organization will not be responsible for deposited items. The service will be available from 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 4.

Organization staff may request the bag or backpack to be opened to check its contents. Refusal will result in denial of the baggage check service.

RESTROOMS

Portable toilets will be installed near the start and finish areas, and also after the finish-line aid station.

PHOTO SERVICE

The Organization will offer all participants the possibility to purchase a professional photo package of their participation in the race.

INSURANCE

All runners are covered by civil liability and accident insurance, in accordance with current legislation.

The Organization declines all responsibility for physical or moral damages that a runner may cause to third parties during the event.

PACERS

The Movistar Madrid Half Marathon will provide properly identified pacers for each of the following net finish times: 1h20’, 1h25’, 1h30’, 1h35’, 1h40’, 1h45’, 1h50’, 1h55’, 2h, 2h05’ and 2h10’.

OFFICIAL APP

Runners, as well as family members, friends and the general public, may download the official event app for free, available on Google Play and the App Store, where they will be able to follow half marathon participants in real time, check their race bib or stay informed about everything related to the event: latest news, course, regulations…

VIDEOS

All participants will be able to download their finish-line video for free, available on the official website in the days following the race.

OFFICIAL CERTIFICATE

The official certificate, showing the overall position, category position, official time and average pace, will also be available for free download through the official website in the hours following the event.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

The Organization has the necessary medical services to assist runners during the event.

The Organization recommends that all participants undergo a medical check-up prior to the race, with each participant accepting the risks inherent to sports activity.

Any athlete with health issues is required to notify the Organization in advance and in writing, mark their race bib with a red cross, and include their name, address, phone number and health condition on it.

A physiotherapy and podiatry service will be available, for the exclusive use of runners who have suffered any type of injury. The physiotherapy service will not be used, under any circumstances, as a relaxing or recovery massage.

SWEEP VEHICLE

The Organization will provide a sweep vehicle to be used by runners who do not wish to continue the race or who are forced to withdraw.

Note: some of these services may be affected according to the health regulations in force at the time of the race.

Art. 13.- WHEELED DEVICES AND EQUIPMENT

The use of any wheeled device or equipment during the race is not permitted, except for wheelchairs (not handbike) of disabled athletes registered in the wheelchair category, approved by the RFEA and officially accepted by the Organization. It is also not permitted to run with baby strollers, dogs, or any type of pet, since in case of an accident, the insurance does not cover the incident and any medical and/or legal expense, claim, or compensation would be charged to the person who caused the incident.

Participants in wheelchairs must wear an approved helmet.

Art. 14.- AUTHORIZED VEHICLES

The course is closed to all vehicles. The only vehicles allowed to follow the race will be those accredited by the Organization.

It is strictly forbidden to follow the runners in any type of motor vehicle or wheeled vehicle (skates, bicycles, etc.).

Art. 15.- ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

All participants, by registering, accept these regulations and the rules of the RFEA, FMA, WA, and AIMS. In addition, they give their consent for Agrupación Deportiva Marathon, either directly or through third parties contracted for this purpose, to process their personal data electronically for exclusively sporting, promotional, or commercial purposes, as well as their image within the race through photographs, videos, etc.

For the purposes of current personal data protection legislation, you are informed that the personal data and official photographs of the Movistar Madrid Medio Marathon will be incorporated into a file owned by Agrupación Deportiva Marathon (G78026150), organizer of the event, with the purpose of using them solely and exclusively for the purposes requested in the registration form.

Participants may exercise their right of access to these files in order to rectify or partially or totally cancel their content. To exercise this right, they must request it by email to admarathon@admarathon.es, attaching a photocopy of their ID.

In case of doubt regarding any circumstance that may arise, the Organization's criteria will prevail.
